Part Two: HOW Much Protein Should You Be Eating?

First, can I eat TOO MUCH PROTEIN? The answer is YES. I’ll get to that later.

How Much Protein Do I Need?

The United States Department of Agriculture currently recommends that both men and women eat about 0.8 grams of protein for every kilogram of body weight.

But that is the bare minimum your body needs to support itself!

If you exercise and weight train daily you will need more protein than someone who walks every other day or only skis on the weekends.

Based on your activity levels, you may need up to 1.5 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight.

When to eat Protein

Eating 10-30 grams of protein every four to five hours is ideal.

How much is too much?

Some research shows negative effects if you go over 1.5 grams of protein per kilogram. Research also shows that if you consume more than 30 grams at one sitting that extra protein won’t be used as fuel, but instead will be stored as fat.
